Ram Acharya

Ram Acharya (Nepalese: राम आचार्य; RAH-m ah-CAR-yah; born September 25 2004), is a Nepalese Yoga Instructor.[1] Acharya is known for being Hope's Peak University's 3rd Ultimate Yoga Instructor.[1][2] Acharya trained under guru Manish "Bharadwaj" Hamal in the Chitwan district of Nepal, and has been practicing Yoga for more than 10 years.[1] Acharya is accredited with several variations of yoga forms and sequences, and has been in a teaching position since as young as 16.[1][3]

Early Life and Career

Ram Acharya was born in the city of Bharatpur, Nepal, and is the parental grandson of former Hope's Peak University's Ultimate Lucky Student, Girvesh Acharya.[1][4][5] He is the son of Sang and Muna Acharya, and has four siblings, older brother Dinakar and older sister Lopika, and younger brothers Pavan and Nishanta.[1] Sang Acharya is a notable lawyer in Bharatpur, and Acharya states that seeing his father work has given him a "great depth of knowledge and empathy for the wider world."[1][6][7]

Acharya reports having much free time in his youth, usually spent at his grandparents, where he would then venture off on his own. This is what led to his discovery of Bharadwaj's yoga practice, where Acharya would watch with rapt attention. Noticing his repeated appearances, Bharadwaj invited Acharya into a session, showing the just nine year old the basics of posture and thought, things Archaya said would stick with him for the rest of his life.[1] He continued to visit and learn under Bharadwaj, accompanying him on trips to places such as other districts of Nepal or India, and even teaching some of Bharadwaj's classes back in Chitwan when he was sixteen.[1][8]

In accordance with his beliefs, and as Acharya puts it, the "spirit of humanity", Acharya has also been involved with humanitarian and environmental volunteer projects, especially advocating for the Chitwan National Park.[1][8][9]

Acceptance to Hope's Peak University

Acharya was eventually scouted for Hope's Peak University in the summer of 2020, after completing a weeklong retreat into the mountains all by himself, documenting his experiences and growth. After his experiences were discovered and confirmed, Acharya was invited to attend as a part of the Ultimate program, and Acharya would confirm his enrollment at Hope's Peak University for the upcoming 2021 fall semester.[1][10]

Prior to his acceptance, he also completed 200 hours of yoga practice. Since then, he has completed 300 hours at Hope's Peak University.[1][7]

Life at Hope's Peak University

During his first year attending Hope's Peak University, reports showed a favorable relationship between Acharya and Manon Delamere, the Ultimate Ballerina.[11] This is notable as Delamere insisted she was going to Hope's Peak University to hone her craft and nothing more, and thus questions surrounding the two's involvement in the other's lives began to circulate.[12][13] This would ultimately prove fruitless, as Delamere disappeared from public life once the school year ended.[13] When asked, Acharya had no comments about her disappearance.[7]

Acharya currently will be entering his third year of attendance at Hope's Peak University. Should Acharya graduate as the Ultimate Yoga Instructor in 2026, he would be the third to do so.[2]
